Meet The Coaches
Program Director / Varsity Head Coach
This is Amanda’s first year as the Program Director and 17th year coaching at Mira Costa High School where she has been a part of the 2020 CIF Championship, numerous Bay League Championships, 2 CIF Finals and 2 Regional runs. Amanda also teaches physical education with an emphasis on yoga at Mira Costa. Prior to taking over the soccer program, Amanda was the head coach of the Mira Costa girls lacrosse team for 16 years. She is a Mira Costa graduate and was a four-year member of both the soccer and softball teams. Amanda graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in kinesiology. While attending USC, Amanda was a four-year member of the Varsity women’s rowing team. Amanda has a Master’s degree in Education from Pepperdine University.
Varsity Assistant Coach
This is Shannon’s fifth year as assistant coach at Mira Costa. Shannon is a Mira Costa graduate and was an All-CIF player for the Mustangs. She went on to be a four-year player at USC, scoring seven game-winning goals which is amongst the USC career leaders. Shannon is also in her fifth year as an assistant coach for the Cal State LA women’s soccer program. She also has collegiate coaching experience at the University of New Mexico and USC. Shannon played professionally for the OC Waves and the Ajax America Women semi-pro team. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from USC, a Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Sport and Exercise Psychology from Cal State Long Beach and a Doctor of Education (EdD) focused in Kinesiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Junior Varsity Head Coach
This is Lacey’s first year coaching at Mira Costa. Lacey teaches 7th grade science and STEM at Manhattan Beach Middle School and coached its soccer team for four years. Lacey received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Cal State Fullerton in 2015, where she also was a scholarship soccer player. Lacey fell in love with coaching and mentoring children while coaching at Albion Soccer Club in Orange County, which led her to earning a teaching credential from Cal State Long Beach. She grew up playing soccer locally for Fram, South Bay Force and Tustin United. Lacey graduated from Palos Verdes High School in 2009. She played soccer all four years at PV, earning team captain and All-Bay League First Team honors.
Freshman-Sophomore Head Coach
Melissa returns for her second year as head coach of the Freshman-Sophomore girls’ team. In Melissa’s first season, she led the F/S team to the top of the Bay League standings with an undefeated 9-0-2 record. Melissa also is in her fourth year at Mira Costa as staff in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program. Melissa grew up in the Philippines where she played soccer from high school through college. She earned a full ride scholarship, graduating from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Melissa represented her country in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s U18 Championship in 2004. After her playing career, she was a goalie coach for six years before moving to the United States.
